Ways to Give

    Who owns the Morrison Arena?

The Morrison Arena (formerly Orono Ice Arena) is owned and operated by Orono Ice Arena, Inc., a community based Minnesota non-profit (501c3) corporation. The rink was originally built with funds raised by the Orono Hockey Boosters, Inc. and the school agreed to lease the land to the rink at a reduced rate. A volunteer board of five (5) directors manages the arena. Three (3) of the members are appointed by the Board of Directors of the Hockey Boosters, Inc. One (1) member is appointed by Orono Independent School District (278), and one (1) member is appointed by the City of Orono. Orono Ice Arena is not owned by or part of the Orono School District facilities.

    how is the rink funded?

The Morrison Arena was built in 1997 with private contributions from local residents and continues to operate as a community based Minnesota non-profit 501c3. Morrison Arena is not owned by or part of the Orono School District facilities. The school cannot legally bond for capital improvements to facilities that they don’t own. As a result, the Morrison Arena relies on revenue from ice fees, concessions, advertising and contributions from its members and community to operate.

Thank you for your support of the Morrison Arena (formerly the Orono Ice Arena) and it's programming. Below you will find a list of the various ways you can give financial support to the Morrison Arena along with some points of contact for specific questions.

    ways to give

There are several ways to support the Morrison Arena.

Click to donate with a Credit Card

You are able to make pledges that will be paid over a period of time. Contact Pete Eckerline for more information on such a gift.

Many employers (and former employers, for retirees) match the charitable gifts of their employees. If you are a donor to the Orono Ice Arena, please ask your human resources department if your employer matches charitable gifts. If it does match gifts, please obtain, complete and submit a matching-gift form (or fill one out online, if your employer offers that option) to multiply the value of your gift. Check this list of matching-gift companies to see if yours is on it. It is not an exhaustive list, so if yours is not on it, please ask your human resources department if your employer matches charitable gifts.

If you have questions about matching gifts, please contact your human resources department or one of our OIA contacts listed.

The Orono Ice Arena accepts gifts of stock. When considering a gift of stock, please contact Pete Eckerline for the most up-to-date information regarding these gifts.

By remembering the Orono Ice Arena in your will or trust, you receive more benefits than tax savings and retention of your assets for life: You create a legacy, make a lasting investment in the future of children in our community, expressing gratitude and making a difference in the Orono Community.

If you would like to make a gift of real estate or other tangible property, please contact us.
